Foreword

It gives me immense pleasure to write the foreword for "Current and Emerging Concepts of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome - Manual from M.P. PCOS Society". This Manual represents a significant academic and clinical contribution to the ongoing dialogue surrounding women's endocrine and metabolic health in India and globally. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is increasingly recognized not only as a leading cause of infertility and menstrual irregularities, but also as a complex endocrine-metabolic disorder with long-term implications for cardiometabolic health, psychological well-being, quality of life, etc. Despite its high prevalence, PCOS remains underdiagnosed and undertreated, especially in resource-limited settings. This underscores the need for multidimensional approaches to understanding, diagnosing, and managing this condition-approaches that are evidence-based, interdisciplinary, and culturally contextualized.

The M.P. PCOS Society's initiative to consolidate contemporary knowledge and emerging research into a structured clinical and research manual is both timely and commendable. This manual reflects the depth and breadth of current scientific understanding, while also highlighting crucial gaps in knowledge and fostering a collaborative research ethos. It is particularly heartening to see this effort driven by our eminent endocrinologists, gynecologists, pharmacologists, and researchers. This book will undoubtedly serve as a valuable resource for clinicians, medical educators, and health researchers. It will also aid in sensitizing policymakers and public health practitioners to the challenges posed by PCOS, thereby contributing to the development of more inclusive and effective health strategies for women.
